Buttar, a small and peaceful village, is in Moga District of Punjab. It falls in between Moga and Badhni Kalan, nearly four km north-west of Badhani towards Moga. There are three gurdwaras, several educational institutions, a grain market, banks, health centers and a veterinary hospital. The nearest railhead is at Mehna (13 km). Amritsar International Airport serves this area.

This village has a middle school since 1853 and upgraded to high school in 1953. on that time only this school educates this village and neighbourhood villages. but now buttar is only un educated village in all its neighbourhoods. because:-[ਲੰਮਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਯੋਗ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੇ-ਸਮੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਰਕਾਰਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਲਤ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਦਿਅਕ, ਖੇਡਾ, ਸਾਹਿਤਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਤੋ ਦਿਨੋ ਦਿਨ ਪਛੜਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਵੀ ਆਮ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਨਾਲੋ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹੀ ਰਿਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ|]
